The project “Volumetric Testimony of Holocaust Survivors,” funded by the Brandenburg Ministry of for Economic Affairs, Labour and Energy, will continue this year with the Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF Film University and the Brandenburg Society for Culture and History as a virtual encounter. In December 2022, the last eyewitness Alodia Witaszek-Napierała was interviewed as part of the project by director Christian Zipfel and recorded by 36 cameras.
In 2023 the project will be continued as a virtual encounter with the title “In Echt? -“In Echt? – Virtuelle Begegnung mit NS-Zeitzeug*innen“. The volumetric interviews with contemporary witnesses will be used to test and present the possible applications, opportunities and challenges of the technology in the field of history education in and out of school. Selected interview segments will be integrated into an interactive VR application. The application will be shown at theHouse of Brandenburg-Prussian History (HBPG)and on tour with a mobile remembrance room at various locations in the state of Brandenburg and will be tested, discussed and further developed with different target groups.
The cooperation between Volucap and the university developed within the framework of the transfer strategy of the state of Brandenburg and was coordinated by the Knowledge and Technology Transfer of the Babelsberg Film University.
We are pleased that this important project can continue and develop.
