On April 10, 2025, the MediaTech Turntable once again took place at the premises of UFA GmbH in Potsdam.
The MediaTech Hub Innovator event series is now entering its third round. The topic of the first turntable this year: cybersecurity & digital transformation.
Many familiar faces were present – but new participants also enriched the exchange. The event started shortly after 6 p.m. with a brief introduction to the topic by our project manager Hannah Nieswand. This was followed by a keynote speech by Nils Karn (CEO, Mitigant). In his presentation, Nils presented relevant industry information and trends:
In 2024, for example, up to 84% of German companies were affected by cyber incidents – a third of which were caused by human error. Cybercrime caused damage amounting to EUR 202 billion, including EUR 11 billion from ransomware. Trends such as AI-supported security solutions and growing attack surfaces due to advancing digitalization require clear responsibilities, regular training and strategic security architectures.
After this short, activating impulse, Programme & Project Manager Olympia Tsakiridou led into the discussion phase, which was organized according to the World Café principle. The participants were divided into three groups for this purpose. A specific question was discussed at each of the three stations, with each group working on each station in turn.
One group worked at one station per round. As soon as the time for one round was up, the groups changed stations. One person remained at their station to accompany the discussion and to summarize all three group contributions at the end.
The following questions were discussed, among others:
- Digitization without a cyber strategy – how can transformation and security be reconciled?
- AI & security – risk or game changer?
- Europe and digital sovereignty – opportunities, challenges, and competitive advantages.
At the end of the discussion rounds, the results were summarized and presented so that all group findings could be made visible. Nils Karn gave additional feedback on each presentation and a classification based on his personal experience.
The group discussions showed great unanimity in all subject areas: cyber security is not an option, but a prerequisite for successful digitalization. Technological innovation, organizational clarity and cultural change must go hand in hand. AI and European regulations offer strategic opportunities – but require targeted implementation.
Following the discussion, participants had the opportunity to network and exchange ideas over snacks and drinks.
The next MediaTech Turntable will take place on July 1st, 2025 at Digitalwerk Werder.
The topic this time: AI and change.
Further information on the upcoming event will be announced in good time.
