Cinema matchmaking: the Cinuru app connects cinemas and visitors

Cinema operators who can target their viewers? No frustration among movie fans over missed films? How to take customer loyalty seriously, reward it and go digital in the process: the start-up Cinuru Research makes customers part of the movie theater. To this end, the five founders Martina Berger, Jannis Funk, Tobias Lohse, Paulo Ruhrländer and Jean-David Herld have developed an innovative customer loyalty system for independent cinemas. In an interview on the green sofa of Studio Five’s MediaTechLab Lounge, we talk about Tasty – Unbedingt! – packed movie theaters and Potsdam.

We Cinuru Research founding team are …

…movie enthusiasts and technerds… maybe vice versa.

Our Cinuru Research company idea was born …

… because we have observed that the film industry is finding it increasingly difficult to reach the right audience in cinemas, even though there are models from the online world for bringing the right films and the right audience together. In conversations with moviegoers, we have often heard that they want more information from their cinema and are frustrated because they often miss out on films. This is exactly what we want to change and connect cinema and visitors with Cinuru.

We one founder and four founders got to know each other …

… in many different ways. Partly at elementary school, partly at university. Today we are united by our common foundation and our passion for films, so we sometimes go to the movies together after work.

Cinuru Research is …

…the connection between movie theater and visitor. Our cinema app Cinuru rewards loyal visitors with rewards and personalized film recommendations. Cinemas and the film industry can get to know their customers better and optimize their marketing and program planning.

Potsdam is for us …

…the place where the worlds of film and tech collide and things get very creative.

In 2021, Cinuru …

…the tool that helps every movie fan find films to suit their taste and will continue to fill movie theaters in the future.

We have already worked as …

…film producer, software developer, set production manager, financial analyst, PR assistant, entrepreneur, …

We bring with us …

A master’s degree and a diploma in film and television production, a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in computer science, a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and physics, a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in finance, six different movie bonus cards…good thing they’ll soon be available digitally in Cinuru!

The five of us think this movie is great …

…the nachos will be gone by the time we’ve discussed this. ?

We associate AI with…

… great potential to get to know moviegoers better and make personal movie recommendations.

Our favorite location for networking in Babelsberg is …

…the Tasty, the bistro on the Studio Babelsberg site. They serve burgers every Friday, it’s always packed and you meet film producers, company founders, students, actors, sponsors, scenographers… it’s always exciting who you end up sitting at a table with.

We recommend every startup …

…to build broad networks and exchange ideas with other start-ups and experienced companies – there are so many questions that it’s good to be able to help each other.

This is still important to us …

…the exchange with other founders!

You can find us …

August-Bebel-Str. 26-53, in Studio Five, 3rd floor, at the far end of the corridor.

The small print …
