Marburg students as guests at the MediaTech Hub Potsdam in Babelsberg

A breath of campus-fresh curiosity blew through the MediaTech Hub yesterday, May 14, 2025: 15 students from Philipps-Universität Marburg spent an afternoon immersing themselves in the MediaTech Hub ecosystem. Héline Dedier, Community & Partner Manager of the MediaTech Hub, welcomed the group within the historic walls of the UFA. She explained how the MediaTech Hub Potsdam connects founders, research and industry and why Babelsberg in particular has become a test laboratory for new media technologies. She gave the students an overview of the hub’s activities – from the accelerator program, co-working spaces and networking events to the MediaTech Hub Conference, which brings international industry experts to Babelsberg every year.

Immediately afterwards, the group moved on to the neighboring Studio Babelsberg site. There, Sascha Schwarz from Volucap welcomed the guests. On Europe’s first volumetric shooting floor, he showed the group how hundreds of cameras capture actors as a three-dimensional point cloud and how artificial intelligence reconstructs the data into accessible scenes in real time.

We would like to thank Philipps University Marburg for the visit!
