Packed House & Fresh Impulses: Our Recap of the MOVE! Challenge 2025

On 28th November, together with the Start-up Service of the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF, we opened the doors for the MOVE! Challenge 2025, and nearly 40 key figures from the business, tech, and creative sectors accepted our invitation.

The MOVE! Challenge is not intended to be yet another event focusing on theory with only a brief exchange taking place at the end of the day. Our goal with the Challenge is to move away from theory and towards practice. We wanted to showcase what the Potsdam-Babelsberg location is truly capable of when the right people are brought together in one space.

The agenda therefore featured three very real ‘pain points’ that our partners brought directly from their day-to-day business, which were worked on by interdisciplinary teams over the course of the day.

Rethinking Social Spaces: Together with Albrecht Ecke (eckedesign), the focus was on how we can address the problem of loneliness and create genuine encounters in public spaces—keywords: “Communication Catalysts”. By the end of the day, the interdisciplinary team had not only developed realistic personas but also initial solution approaches.

Production 2.0: Commissioned by KW Development, Tilo Schneider of Medienstadt Potsdam and his team ran a scenario on how we can make medium-sized indie productions more efficient. The Challenge group developed concrete processes, role models, and practical approaches for the application of AI.

The AI Trailer Workflow: Together with Ernst Feiler (KW Development), a completely digital process for spec film trailers was outlined. This perfectly demonstrated how humans and machines will interlock in future workflows. The team primarily defined role allocations and established the interaction between humans and AI in the production process.

The Challenge Day offered the perfect blend of a relaxed atmosphere and extremely focused work sessions. By the time of the concluding pitches, it was clear that excellent starting points for collaborations had been set and many new contacts had been made. This is living technology transfer, as we desire it for the Babelsberg location, and which we will continue to strengthen in the future. The strong local connection and the close collaboration with the Film University created exactly the right framework for this solution-oriented work.

We are delighted with the great reception of this new collaboration concept and intend to continue the MOVE! Challenge next year!

Anyone who wishes not only to observe Babelsberg as a hub for innovation but also to actively help shape it should start networking now. Follow our channels for updates so you don’t miss out when the planning for the MOVE! Challenge 2026 gets underway!
