In an era of information overload, many feel overwhelmed and disengaged—a phenomenon known as ’news avoidance.‘ Fake news, algorithm-driven content, and populist narratives further erode trust in journalism, amplifying skepticism and making audiences even more likely to disengage.
At MIZ Deciders Day 2025 – Overcoming News Avoidance and Reclaiming Trust, three best practices and approaches from across Europe will showcase how community-driven journalism, hyperlocal coverage, innovative formats and new technological tools can strengthen journalistic credibility and tackle news avoidance by engaging audiences in new ways.
After their presentations, they will discuss strategies, challenges, and learnings with each other – and with the participants.
